A 10-mile circular walk that started at the canal basin of my hometown of Linlithgow. With temperatures hovering around zero for the last couple of days, the canal was partially frozen.

I walked along the canal for a while, then turned to the south and headed uphill toward Beecraigs Country Park.

Hillhouse Wood: The sun was so low in the sky that the light was permanently dappled.

After walking through the park, I descended to the south of the park. The sun was at its highest point at this time.

I started to climb again, to the south of Beecraigs. I spotted a fox in a field shortly after this, but I was not quick enough to get a photo before he spotted me and took off.

I took a quick walk up to the top of Cainpapple Hill, which is a very historic and ancient site. Click the link for more info.

At this point, I started heading back home via Witchcraig and Cathlaw Wood…

…than back through Beecraigs Country Park.

I walked back through Hillhouse Wood and down the path back into Linlithgow.

A lovely winter walk.
